Core Communications Private Limited, better known as CorePR, is the first independent public relations firm in Chandigarh, a city situated north of India's capital, New Delhi. Founded in 1987.

PR or Public Relations indeed is the power that you can leverage for yours and your organisational success. Surprised? Not sure?
Public relations is not a rocket science; all you need is to use it strategically to reach your desired goals.
Public Relations is the art and science of managing communication. And effective communication helps you manage your money, material, men, and machines – the 4Ms which every top man manages, and yet success remains elusive in the absence of appropriate communication with the people engaged in handling your finances, human resources, production and supply chains. The 4Ms can run smoothly and contribute to your organisation’s productivity, proficiency and profits only if it is oiled well with effective communication. Communication with people at all levels…inside and outside the organisation.
Every business or profession in the world runs on communication. And to achieve certain goals and results, you require strategic communication with the people who are most important to your organisation; what we call in PR as the ‘publics’ or the stakeholders.
The first lesson, therefore, is to examine your ‘Ps’ who are a part of your organisation’s ecosystem, directly or indirectly. It’s the people who are the first step torealizethe power of PR. In case you find it difficult to handle this first part, employ or engage a public relations consultant for the job to help you understand these ‘publics’. Segment them through theirpsycho-graphicsand demographics. Profiling your stakeholders help you understand their needs, their aspirations and expectations from your organisation. List them out all the stakeholders, internally and externally, and mention against each one of them, the key attributes or characteristics.
Prioritizethem in terms of each stakeholders importance to your organisation.
Conduct a communication audit to understand whether your organisation is meeting their aspirations. Does your communication is rightly worded and timed, in a language that they can understand, with a mechanism to receive regular feedback? An audit reveals the missing links on our perception of what these stakeholders think about the organisation, and what actual perception exists in the marketplace.
For small and medium enterprises, who may not consider engaging a professional or a consultancy firm, it is essential to examine their stakeholders and device communication that effectively conveys your message and gets understood.
Let’s get cracking with this first step and more shall follow in subsequent articles.

Anyone that could get the bravery could converse in public places, yet not everyone can speak well. To be able to make a dialog that operates there needs to be a transparent good sense of order as well as structure. You can find several standard elements to the speech: first, centre, and finish. By simply knowing exactly how each one really should be incorporated into a new conversation, one can allow quality toasts.

The start of any language is the most important part and requires to add this short intro. It must have a quick introduction to what’s going end up being outlined and so the viewers will know what the heck is to get estimated. The start need to choose something, offer, or even assertion that may quickly contain the audience’s particular attention. Speaking before multiple people is like finding someone fresh. The first few moments are essential in growing a judgment. Following only a few minutes connected with hearing the particular phone speaker the target audience may decide if thez lecturer can be tense, appealing, or perhaps cocky. In case the attention of your target audience seriously isn’t taken inside first couple of a few minutes, almost certainly will probably be missing. Commence a speech or maybe a language having a hammer. Go to town.

Center of it needs to be a number of certainly given things. It can be thought that unusual variety of things tend to be quickly valued when compared with actually quantities. About three plus several will be the a couple mostly applied sets of statistics. Anything at all with more than your five details will become challenging don’t forget.

The particular stopping is a subsequent crucial part. The actual closing will incorporate a brief summary of what exactly has been outlined, and also the phone speaker really should create just about any finishing reviews easily. The key into a powerful ending is to be powerful along with brief. More and more people are closing the speeches and toasts by using fragmented phrases just like, Plus that’ slightly regarding hydraulics for yourself. And so . . .. Stopping some sort of language with the or perhaps which has a fragile stopping for instance that may be many Concerning intended for ya usually are undesirable. This is the continue likelihood for a lecturer to help impress the crowd. Also , it is one more possibility to point out to these folks associated with precisely what is alleged.

Construction within a conversation is vital in earning an esteem of an audience. Construction is likewise crucial in terms of a property. The organized, house clean using a safety technique offers a set up look that could discourage aside thiefs.

You probably have seen numerous best man toasts done as a speech. Not only it is common, but it can be boring to hear the same speeches over and over again. Only the faces and some details change but the flow of the speech is not something that can surprise you. One way to give back to the groom is to make best man toasts an enjoyable and unique part of the wedding. Here just some unconventional ways to make the best man toasts:

TIP #1: Prepare a Slide Show Flash some pictures to make a more entertaining speech. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words. It can make your job much easier. Also you may opt to include some sound effects to make it more dramatic.

TIP#2: Prepare a Video Have you noticed how TV shows prepare a video presentation as a tribute to someone special? Copy their tactics. You can hire people to help you with producing the video. Or you can always make it a home video and the rawness of the short film can have a personal appeal. Whether you have it professionally done or not, just make sure that the film is a personal tribute to the newlyweds. Don’t just hire someone and let them do all the work. Make sure that you are involved in the process from the beginning to the end.

TIP#3: Re -enact the special moments. Hire actors or ask help from family and friends to help you in re-enacting the special moments in the couple’s lives. Nothing is more engaging than to watch a short play about the lives of the newlyweds. You can include short segments on how they met, how they’ve change, and how the groom proposed. Make the people laugh and cry. This will surely make your best man toast one of its kind and a tough act to follow.

Anyone who may get up the valor might discuss in public places, although not everyone is able to communicate properly. So as to provide a speech that actually works there ought to be a clear sense regarding buy and also framework. You will discover three primary pieces to some presentation: inception, center, and also stop. By way of understanding precisely how every need to be integrated into your language, you can give top quality speeches.

The beginning of some sort of talk is the central portion as well as to feature a short benefits. It needs to include quick presentation of what’s going to always be discussed to ensure the visitors know what’s to generally be likely. A symptom will need to start with a question, line, as well as record that can promptly develop the audience’s interest. Communicating looking at groups of folks is similar to finding a partner completely new. The initial few units are crucial inside developing a belief. Immediately after a short time of following this lecturer the guests can appraise if the loudspeaker is usually nervous, intriguing, or maybe cocky. If the fascination from the viewers is not seized in the initial few minutes, possibly it will be shed. Start a presentation or a talk which has a beat. Be creative.

The middle of the speech really should be a few obviously layed out issues. Its believed that strange numbers of issues are definitely more simply thought of as compared with perhaps volumes. Some as well as all 5 are classified as the not one but two in most cases made use of teams of amounts. Whatever with more than 5 details gets to be difficult to try to remember.

This ending may be the secondly crucial part. Your concluding should include a short introduction to what may be discussed, along with the lecturer should generate every final comments quickly. The main element to a potent finishing is usually to be solid plus helpful. A great number of are usually concluding their messages along with fragmented content such as, As well as which ha a bit with regards to hydraulics for you personally. So . . .. Ending a talk with the or maybe which includes a vulnerable ending like that’s all I’ve for you are improper. This is actually the final chance to get a loudspeaker to make an impression on the target audience. It’s also the final an opportunity to tell all of them involving just what exactly has been said.

Design in a language is critical inside attaining the respect of your market. Design can also be critical on the subject of your dream house. A strong well-kept, clean house that has a safety measures procedure gives a built visual appeal that should scare absent intruders.

To beat the fear of public speaking use the following Five “P’s”…

1. Preparation

Prepare yourself carefully for your speaking engagement. To start with understand your audience and just what they expect. Who are they, how old they are etc? This will help when deciding upon your subject matter. Meet up with some of them beforehand as it is easier to deliver a speech to people beforehand.

Pick a subject which will interest your audience and will be worthwhile to them. Research the subject diligently. Your primary source should be your own personal experience and after that read up on topic. Good research will make writing and preparing your speech a lot easier. When you are beginning it is easier to write the speech out word for word. If you will read your speech, ensure it is written in spoken English.

The more diligently that you’re prepared the more self-confident you will feel. .

2. Passion

Choose a topic that you are interested in and will interest the audience. Your enthusiasm for the subject you’re presenting will always make it better for you to speak on the topic and that excitement is infectious. Also, you will have discussed this topic before and when you are presenting you’ll merely be extending the conversation.

3. Positive

Envision a positive outcome. Create a vivid picture in your mind of a successful speech and keep focussed on it. Just before you go on stage to present take many deep breaths to calm your nerves and really go overboard with your confident self-talk. Explain to yourself how great you are. The audience will react well to your confident demeanour as you approach the stage and begin to speak.

4. Practice

Practice is of primary significance in setting up self-confidence. Practice as often as possible facing a mirror and in front of your family and friends. Re-write the speech to make it simpler to read and to make it more conversational. If you are going to be reading your speech, practice the tone and tempo of your speaking. Lift your eyes up from the page. Practice until you’re comfortable with the speech.

5. Persistence

After you have taken your first step, the best way to beat public speaking fear is always to carry on undergoing it. George Bernard Shaw used this technique to help overcome his speaking in public anxiety. To improve on the technique, develop a simple speech and deliver it frequently.

In summary the fear of speaking in public is a normal fear, but it has been learned and can be overcome by using the 5 “P”s. The benefits are there to be claimed by you in taking the steps to benefit your audience.

I got over my fear of public speaking by using an online course to guide me step-by-step through the process.

When my new husband told me he was going to be teleprompting I was clueless as to what he was talking about. He explained that it was like cue cards but on a computer screen and used extensively not just by the media, but also by corporations for presentations and for video taping commercials. Okay, that sounds interesting but how does it work?

After the speech is written, it is input to a computer that will allow it to be displayed in front of the speaker without the audience being aware of its existence. I remembered from my past speaking encounters where I had to memorize everything that I wanted to say and the order that it would go in for a complete uniformity. It usually meant a tremendous amount of practicing the evening before or taking a stack of 3×5 index cards with me for the presentation. Teleprompting has simplified this process for the speaker. They no longer need to memorize a speech; they only need to be able to read from a screen in front of them. Image the hours of practice, not to mention the stress this removes from the speaker.

I was interested in how this came about. The first teleprompters were created in the 1950s by Fred Barton Jr., Hubert J. Schlafly and Irving Kahn. At the time Fred Barton was an actor and suggested the teleprompter as a way of assisting the performers who had too many lines to memorize in a small amount of time. The script was printed on a paper scroll and advanced as the performer read.

In 1982, the first computer based teleprompting system was developed and ran on an ATARI 800 personal computer with very specialized teleprompting software to work with the camera hardware which was also modified. Today’s teleprompter still runs on a personal computer and is connected to video monitors on one or more cameras. This monitor is placed directly in front of the camera so it gives the impression of the speaker talking directly to the camera instead of reading a script. The displays used vary drastically depending on the type of presentation. One which I’m sure you’ve seen used and not even noticed, is the presidential glass. It is mostly transparent so that it will not block the view of the speaker by the audience or cameras. Even singers such as Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John have used teleprompter hardware on stage.

Okay, enough about the history and hardware of teleprompting. I am now being made aware of the fact that there is an “art” also being employed here. Let me explain. The basic idea is of a script being up on screen and the speaker reading from it. Too many times this will sound like it is being read. This is not usually the impression that they want to convey. A “seasoned” teleprompting operator knows how to get in touch with the speaker and craft the speech to their speaking style. During rehearsal, the teleprompting operator is listening intently for voice inflection to make sure that the speaker is comfortable with the flow. Sometimes it means changing a word or two or rewording a sentence to ensure a natural delivery. A professional teleprompting operator knows how to get these results and understands that there’s more to prompting than typing in a script and turning a knob. For the speaker, finding a good teleprompting operator can be a real salvation.

Have you ever fallen asleep when listening to a speech or presentation? Sometimes a little nap during a presentation can boost your energy for the rest of the day. Speakers- if you want to be the one to send your audience to sleep, so they will be fully alert for other people’s presentations follow these ten tips.

1.   Make sure that your material is dry and boring. Make sure that your material is either highly technical or complex. If at all possible fill your speech with specialized academic content that is not easily understood without prior study and research.

2.   Do not include any explanations or illustrations to make the content understandable to the average person in your audience.

3.   Schedule your speech to be at the end of a long day or after a big meal. This will give added incentive for drowsiness and lethargy.

4.   Speak softly and avoid any expression or vocal variety that might distract or interest your audience.

5.   Stand still behind the lectern for the entire speech. Any movement or sudden gestures could wake up your audience.

6.   Avoid any variation in style in your presentation. Do not change from talking to using a flip chart, PowerPoint or any other kind of visual aid or prop that will attract attention.

7.   Do NOT include any humor or stories in your speech that might illustrate the important points you wish to communicate.

8.   Do not keep to the topic of the speech. Spend a large amount of time rambling about subjects or personal experiences that are boring and totally off topic.

9.   Speak about a topic that is very familiar to your audience. Keep your content to things that they already know.

10.   Provide highly detailed handouts, so that your audience will not miss out on any important information during their snooze. Make sure that you do not say anything that is not included in the hand out. For best results, just read the handout word for word.

Hopefully, by following carefully the ten tips outlined here, you will have the satisfaction of seeing an entire audience snoring quietly and happily throughout your entire presentation. If you do not follow these tips you may be alarmed to discover that your audience is alert and interested in what you have to say.

Have you ever wanted to do something crazy?

Have you ever wanted to walk on the wild side?

Have you ever wanted to leave the office environment and never return?

Driving up to Manchester one autumn’s evening in 1995, I decided something had to change.

The three hour journey from Leicester had turned into a six hour marathon, again.

It was cold, damp and desolate stuck in the endless lines of slow moving cars.

In my briefcase sat an unsigned and rather overly negotiated contract extension for my job in Leicester. When I finally arrived in Manchester at 11pm, bored, hungry and miserable – I knew that I could not face another winter of living and working out of a suitcase. It was time for serious change.

The week before, I had been stuck on a train for hours heading down to London.

The woman sat opposite me had left her travel magazine on the seat when she alighted at Luton. I had read my newspaper back to front and on the second time of reading, I found nothing new.

I reached over and killed a little time by flicking through the glossy magazine, but each time I thumbed the pages, my eyes returned to page 34 which advertised a five month trip to South and Central America. Setting off from Ushuaia in Argentina (the most southerly City in the world) and finishing in Mexico City. The itinerary read like a Who’s Who of top travel destinations.

Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Punta Arenas, Pucon (Mount Villarica – 10,000 feet active volcano), Bariloche, Esquel, the Argentine lake district, Santiago, Valparaiso, La Serena, the Atacama desert, Arica, Nazca, Arequipa, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, La Paz, Manaus, Angel Falls and so on…

Do you get the picture?

Travelling on a converted truck and free camping, the lucky adventurers would experience the full range of South and Central America’s charms. Having never been camping before and with my thirty-fifth birthday celebrations still ringing in my ears, I suddenly realised that I was confronted by a serendipitous ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity. Would I break the mould of my boring office life or step out bravely into an adventurer’s world?

I was single, no obligations and I had the money. What is the point in having a big bank balance while life was passing me by?

The following Monday morning, I handed my notice in. Contract discussions had been delayed and I had only ten working days to endure. It seemed like forever before I was released from that working purgatory.

Once the deed was done, I was walking on air. Skipping down the corridor and whistling ‘El condor Pasa’ – I never whistle…

It was a euphoric experience – the weight of meetings, ironing work shirts and driving those endless miles up and down he M1 had dissipated into nothingness. Top priority on this project manager’s list was buying outdoor gear, expensive sleeping bags, boots and all weather jackets.

And there was one place, one destination that I was focussed on – Machu Picchu in Peru – I had read so much about it and I knew that it would be the highlight of my journey…

If you want to find out exactly how my crazy decision turned out… then click on the link and follow my path on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

“Watchability.” Both my spell checker and an online dictionary tell me that “watchability” is not a real word. However, I will continue to use it because, in my opinion, the ability to be watchable may be the single most important trait a speaker can have.

This summer, I attended the annual convention of the National Speakers Association. I thought that the kickoff speaker was amazing. However, if you break down his style in purely technical terms, he was awful. He kept moving around the stage, he stepped out of the light and into the audience, he checked his watch while speaking, etc. Despite all that, he had watchability. Something about his delivery and style kept me grossly engaged. Others must have thought so as well – you don’t get to open a national speakers convention if people think you’re no good.

So what is watchability? It is, to be a bit redundant, the characteristic of being watchable. People enjoy watching and listening to you speak. The amazing thing is that if you are watchable, then even if you mess up or if your content or delivery isn’t up to snuff, the audience will enjoy it.

The ultimate goal, of course, is to have great content and delivery while being amazingly watchable. The challenge is that while content and delivery are easily viewable traits, watchability is abstract. It’s easy to watch a speaker and critique how they move, or how they use their facials. You can listen and critique stutters, inflection, pace, and vocal variety. The value of their content is easy to immediately judge.

Watchability, however, is like charisma. You can’t define a set criteria, but you know it when you see it.

I have however, observed a few things that all eminently watchable speakers do:

They are themselves. These speakers speak from the heart, and speak in a style that is true to themselves. They don’t use other people’s words, and they don’t use unnatural body movements that a coach taught them. They give you the impression that if the two of you were hanging out for dinner, they would say the same thing in the same way.

They are comfortable. Watchable speakers look right at home on stage. This comes from two things: 1) they are experienced and know the material inside and out, and 2) they are not afraid of failure. While they want to communicate their message and please they audience, they are not wrapped up in all that. They are content to just get on stage and do their best. If the audience likes it great; if not, it’s not the end of the world.

They are having fun. You have probably seen a speaker (even a “professional”) who looks like they don’t want to be on stage. Watchable speakers have fun. Even if their topic is serious, they clearly act as if they want to be on that stage. They view it as an honor and a privilege. Whether it stems from fear, arrogance, burn-out, or some mysterious other factor, when a speaker would rather be somewhere else, an audience can feel it.

Practice implementing these three ideas: be yourself, get comfortable, and have fun. You can instantly and drastically increase the value of your speech without changing a single word if you do this. You will, in word, become “watchable.”
