I was mesmerized. I gazed at millions and millions of square miles of topaz-blue water and millions of square miles of emerald-green land. I contemplated the fact that trillions of living creatures inhabit that water and that land, including close to seven billion people.

I want to share with you an exercise that changed my life. My mentor, Max, led me through it as he tried to help me understand the limits of my reality, to help me escape from my box.

Max asked me to imagine that I was becoming weightless, able to lift myself off the ground. I rose above New York City, above the United States, above the clouds. I rose up into the heavens somewhere above the stratosphere. The sky around me got darker. And then . . . I stopped. I looked down and saw the earth.

I was mesmerized. I gazed at millions and millions of square miles of topaz-blue water and millions of square miles of emerald-green land. I contemplated the fact that trillions of living creatures inhabit that water and that land, including close to seven billion people. I imagined each person on earth as a point or a dot. And I visualized millions and millions and millions of these dots scattered throughout the deep green landmasses.

What I saw seemed real, but I realized that it was a reality created by my own perception. If anyone else floated in the exact same place, would they see things differently? Would the land appear more brown to them than green? Would they focus on the white clouds and miss the blue of the oceans? Looking down at the earth and pondering the infinite variety of its appearance, I understood that each individual human being-in fact, each individual living creature-experiences a different reality. Awareness is infinitely variable. Since our experiences and programming are different, each creature’s reality must be different than the reality experienced by every other creature. That’s seven billion human realities and another trillion of other realities, all coexisting in a single space at a single point in time.

As I gazed down on the billions of imaginary dots, I imagined that each one was surrounded by a circle representing each person’s sphere of influence. Some of the circles were larger than others due to the individual’s experiences, programming, physical attributes, geographic location, and cultural upbringing. Most of the circles stood independently, but some of them overlapped, forming Venn diagrams that highlighted portions of reality shared by two or more individuals. The circles seemed to cover the earth. How could it be possible for a single planet to encompass so many realities? And then it hit me. It may be impossible to define a collective reality, but without individual realities, the world would cease to exist. If I removed all the realities from existence, there would be nothing left. Without the existence of your reality, without your perceptions making something real, it does not exist.

In short, the universe as we know it today is made up of trillions of realities. That universe changes constantly as the perceptions and experiences of the creatures around us change. There is simply nothing else.

It took me a while to understand how Max wanted this revelation to change my life. Max wanted me to understand that my reality, and all realities, are directly connected to the universe, simply because they make up the universe. What this implies is that we can change the universe simply by changing our reality. The thoughts behind the reality we create for ourselves can affect every other reality and, in turn, affect certain outcomes. I found this notion to be difficult to accept, but incredibly powerful.

As I floated above the earth according to Max’s guidance, more and more questions came to my mind. Some even rocked my understanding of God’s role in our existence. If it is we whose thoughts create all there is, I considered, and the universe is an integral part of this amalgamation of realities, then who created the Universe? Was it God or us? Is it possible that God creates through us?

And suddenly I looked at my life and wondered, If God has given me the ability to create my life, have I let God down? I felt a sense of responsibility not only for my life, but for what my life could bring to this amazing thing we call the universe.

Julian Assange- life before Wikileaks
According to Wikipedia, Julian Paul Assange was born on the 3rd of July 1971, in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
He is 39 years old.

When Julian was one year old, his mother Christine married Brett Assange, a theatre director, and together ran a touring theatre company.
Even then, Brett Assange described Julian as kid with a “ keen sense of right and wrong”.

In 1979, Julian’s mother remarried. Her new husband belonged to a New Age Group-a cult called The Family.
They had a son, broke up in 1982 and a custody battle followed. Eventually, Christine Assange took Julian and his half-brother into hiding for five years.

By the time Julian reached the age of 14, he moved home 37 times.
Due to these circumstances, he was partly home-schooled.
He spent a lot of time in libraries, reading books on a wide variety of topics.

When he was in his early teens, his mother rented a house across the street from an electronics shop.
He got himself a Commodore 64 on which he wrote his first programs. Later, he acquired a modem, which enabled him to plug into primitive computer networks.
This introduced him to the world of computer hacking, a world he took an instant liking to.

Aged 16, he joined two other hackers and formed a posse which called itself the “International Subversives”.
Wikileaks Assange used the nickname “Mendax”-in Latin, it means liar.
Together, they started hacking into the computer systems of some of America’s most sensitive government installations, including nuclear weapon labs, as well as Australian universities and the Canadian Telecom company Nortel.

During his hacking days he became increasingly paranoid about police coming to arrest him.
In 1989 he had a son, Daniel, with his girlfriend.
But he became so strung out waiting for the knock on the door, that his teenage sweetheart, whom he married, moved out and took their son with her.

After they split up, they engaged in a lengthy custody battle and an arrangement was only reached in 1999.
This experience left Assange with a deep antipathy to bureaucracy which he believed was ‘squashing people’.

It made him form ‘Parent Inquiry Into Child Protection’ together with his mother. This was an activist group with the task of creating a “central databank” for otherwise inaccessible legal records related to child custody issues in Australia.

Back to hacking and the knock on the door came eventually, the Australian police charged him with 31 counts of computer-related crimes. Assange pleaded guilty to 24 of them after years of pre-trial litigation and got away with paying a fine of AU$2100.
In 1993, Julian Assange was involved in starting one of Australia’s first public Internet Service Providers.

From 1994, he lived in Melbourne as a programmer and developer of free software.
He contributed to the writing of a book called ‘Underground: Tales of Hacking, Madness and Obsession on the Electronic Frontier’ as a researcher, drawing on his earlier experience with International Subversives.

From 2003 to 2006, he studied physics and mathematics at the University of Melbourne. He also studied philosophy and neuroscience.
He never graduated. On his personal web page, he claims to have represented his university at the Australian National Physics Competition around 2005.

Julian Assange- The Wikileaks Years

Wikileaks was founded in 2006. That year, Assange wrote two essays setting out the philosophy behind Wikileaks. These essays reflect his distaste for government conspiracies, dictatorial systems of governance, and the means to redress the balance by uncovering the secrets which make it possible using the power of the Internet technologies.

Assange is one of the nine members of Wikileaks advisory board and a prominent media spokesman on its behalf.
He calls himself the editor in chief of Wikileaks and has stated that he has the final decision in the process of vetting documents submitted to the site. He is an unpaid volunteer like all other people who work for Wikileaks.

By December 2007, Assange was so deeply immersed in the world of international computer outlaws that he participated at the annual conference of the Chaos Computer Club, a German hacker group.
There he met up with like-minded hacktivist Daniel Domscheit-Berg, a German programmer.

In the early 2009, Domscheit-Berg joined Wikileaks full-time, and for about 18 months he and Assange were partners and soul mates.
The Swedish sex inquiry brought dissension in the ranks of Wikileaks. Assange was accused that his work suffers because of his personal problems and was even asked to step down as Wikileaks leader until the legal issues regarding the sex allegations are resolved.

Assange told the would-be mutineers:
“ I am the heart and the soul of this organization, its founder, philosopher, spokesperson, original coder, organizer, financier and all the rest.”
Domscheit-Berg left Wikileaks also broke with Assange in spectacular fashion after a shouting match in which he accused Assange of acting like a dictator, and running Wikileaks like an autocratic ruler.
He is currently writing a book about the Wikileaks experience and is creating a disclosure site as a rival to Wikipedia, called Open Leaks.
OK, Julian Assange is not perfect. Who is?
His personality flaws and some perhaps questionable actions do not detract from his brilliant achievements and the fact that he has balls the size of …WhiteHouse?!

Until his arrest on the 7th of December, Assange did not have a permanent address. He has been constantly on the move. He has lived for periods in Australia, Kenya and Tanzania, and rented a house in Iceland, where he worked with other activists on the ‘Collateral murder’ video.

Most of 2010 he visited United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland , Switzerland and other European countries.

Julian Assange-The legal case against him

On 20th of august 2010 an arrest warrant was issued in Sweden for Julian Assange in connection with two women aged 26 and 31. At very short time after the investigation opened chief prosecutor Ewa Finne withdrew the warrant to arrest Assange, saying” I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape”.
Subsequently a possible charge of harassment was considered. It might be worth mentioning what the women’s lawyer, Claes Borgstrom is a Swedish politician who could be trying to further her own career through a high profile trial.

Also, in 2007, the Swedish government launched a three year program designed to educate elements in the criminal-justice system on how to aggressively pursue rape claims, on the premise that rape victims drop their charges more often than any other.
And in Sweden the definition of rape includes having sex with a sleeping woman.

While I personally believe strongly in consensual sex and I oppose sexual violence, I can’t help but point out that the same woman consented to sexual intercourse with Assange before she went blissfully to sleep in the same bed with the accused. This is the same woman who accompanied Julian Assange to the train station and bought him a ticket.

That’s why this insistence about extraditing Assange to Sweden to put him on trial has something farcical about it, the timing of it all adding to the doubt-the arrest warrant was issued just after the release of the diplomatic cables.
In the second half of October Assange’s application for Swedish residency was denied.
On 20th of November Sweden issued an arrest warrant for Assange via Interpol.

He was accused of molestation and unlawful coercion.
Assange claims consensual but unprotected sex.
On the 7th of December Julian Assange was arrested in London after meeting with the police of his own volition.
He was refused bail and spent 7 days in custody on remand in Wandsworth prison, in isolation and was denied a computer and writing materials.

Why the restrictions? The above are granted to more or less any criminal or accused detained in an UK prison.
After the seven days passed it was back to the Royal Court where District Judge Howard Riddle granted Julian Assange bail. He remained in custody for an extra 48 hours, because the British prosecutors lodged an appeal, obviously at the request of their fellow Swedish colleagues.

On the 16th Assange was finally freed on bail , restricted by an electronic tag, a 10 pm curfew and regular visits to the police station.
Even the bail had to be collected in cash, because of the big credit card companies refusal to handle any transactions related to Julian Assange.

Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, they are all instruments of The State who demonstrated that they are actively involved in repressing freedom of speech . Assange has yet to be proven guilty of any wrong-doing, but just because the American politicians want it, these big financial institutions are ready to persecute someone and deny his rights on hearsay and political pressure.

Nine celebrities helped put together the bail money, Jemima Khan, Bianca Jagger, Ken Loach and a few others.
It took a further five hours after the decision until finally Assange was out, free.
Until the next court hearing , which is on the 11th of January, he will stay at Ellingham Hall, a country mansion, owned by Vaughn Smith, 47, former captain in the Grenadier Guards and founder of the Frontline Club.
From there, with Wikileaks colleagues, they will work on releasing yet more diplomatic cables.

The biggest threat for Julian Assange in the meantime is still an extradition request by the US. His lawyers believe a secret US grand jury was assembled and legal arguments are being sought to put together a case against Mr. Assange and preparing an indictment against Assange in Virginia.

Throughout this case, Assange’s lawyers complained of being watched and followed, fact denied of course by the CIA and other American agencies (now this is why we need Wikileaks).
They complained of intimidation- the mail sent to them by the State Department made it a point of putting Mr. Assange and his lawyers in the same bracket.

United Kingdom has a fast extradition treaty with the United States, Sweden has not.
It is going to be a very aggressive investigation, too many ‘important ‘ people lost face, Obama has to explain himself and the US diplomats contemptuous views behind closed doors to other countries leaders, it is a mess indeed.
What makes them really mad is the TRUTH being told, their lies being made public.
And America’s controllers will pursue Julian Assange with all they got. If there are no laws against what he did, they will think of creating them.

Obama administration had asked Britain, Germany, Australia and other allies to consider criminal charges against Assange.
While all foreign ministers of the countries involved deny such requests were made (we’ll see about that in future leaks), Australian Federal Police today stated that by leaking the US cables, Wikileaks has committed no crimes in Australia.

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva labelled the arrest of Julian Assange as an attack on ‘freedom of expression’.
On Facebook, Wikileaks already has over 1.4 million fans and growing.
More than 600 000 people signed a petition in support of Wikileaks on campaigning website Avaaz, and Walid Jumblatt, the leader of Lebanon’s druze community, called for Assange to receive a Nobel prize-fat chance of that, they dish them out in Sweden, and although he deserves it much more than Obama, I doubt he will get this prize or any prize for that matter in Sweden.

The Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev suggested that based on the knee-jerk reaction, there is no media freedom so touted in the West.
The presidents of Ecuador and Venezuela also expressed sympathy and solidarity with Assange, the former even offering him asylum if he chooses to ask for it in Ecuador.

Whatever the ‘geniuses ‘ in Virginia come up with, whatever the State Department chooses to do, for them is a lost battle.
Wikileaks cannot be stopped and Assange is by now too well known for ‘other options’ to work.
We will see how they will pursue Mr. Assange and wave the banner of righteousness and advocate the need for secrecy, censorship and global dictatorship.

But no-one will buy it. The Business will go bankrupt.
Sooner or later, history will mark down how an evil empire and its helpers-loyal gargoyles known also as banksters-saw their One World Order illusion blown away by the ripples of the 21st century cyber- war.

Awards

Assange was the winner of the 2009 Amnesty International Media Award (New Media), awarded for exposing extrajudicial assassinations in Kenya with the investigation The Cry of Blood – Extra Judicial Killings and Disappearances. In accepting the award, he said: “It is a reflection of the courage and strength of Kenyan civil society that this injustice was documented. Through the tremendous work of organisations such as the Oscar foundation, the KNHCR, Mars Group Kenya and others we had the primary support we needed to expose these murders to the world.” He also won the 2008 Economist Index on Censorship Award.

Assange was awarded the 2010 Sam Adams Award by the Sam Adams Associates for Integrity in Intelligence. In September 2010, Assange was voted as number 23 among the “The World’s 50 Most Influential Figures 2010″ by the British magazine New Statesman In their November/December issue, Utne Reader magazine named Assange as one of the “25 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World”. In December 2010, Julian Assange was named the Readers’ Choice for Time magazine’s 2010 Person of the Year as well as runner-up for 2010 Person of the Year.

And yet Time Magazine decided to award the prize to Mr. Mark Zuckerberg. While I appreciate Zuckerberg’s achievements, Time Magazine’s decision to remove Assange altogether from the award, although his popularity in 2010 surpassed Obama’s (oh, dear) due to controversy- and no doubt a few calls from the State Department-diminishes Facebook CEO’s award value.
Still, Julian Assange was reader’s choice , and no prizes are given for guessing the real winner of an impartial result.
What is important is that no matter who the official prize for Person of the Year goes to, people’s vote was given to Julian Assange.
And in the end, it will be people’s will which will shape the future and not some suits in a corporate boardroom.

Congratulations, Mr. Julian Assange! People have chosen you as 2010 Person of the Year!

While Japanese animation is better known for having flashy special effects and obscenely choreographed fight scenes, there are other shows out there that offer a very distinct visual treat. Some shows become sleeper hits, never really making the headlines but having special places in the hearts of more…discerning anime fans. Among these shows is “Maria-sama ga Miteru,” (affectionately called “Marimite” by fans) which is a show that focuses heavily on the characters’ everyday lives, relationships, and personal complexities. Unlike most other anime, “Marimite” has no plot to follow, with the story instead taking time to examine each character in turn. The focus often falls on the relationship a character has with their closest companion, but can also delve deeply into the themes like how their connection with others gives them emotional stability. Some episodes highlight the depth of the devotion that the characters have for each other.

For example, several different chapters delved deeply into the emotional trauma that one of the major characters experienced. The story is one that is told in every high school, with two lovers being forced apart for some reason. In the case of “Marimite,” it could be boiled down to one-sided anxiety in the affair. One of the girls in question, Shiori, was afraid of what would happen if she let go of her lifelong dream and decided to abandon her budding romance with Sei in favor of the stability of pursuing a goal. The nature of the relationship and the ominous end was studied in an early chapter but her recovery, thanks to her friends, was examined more deeply later on in the story. For most fans, that collective “story arc” is considered to be among the chief highlights of the show and is cited as among the most emotionally stirring moments in the history of anime.

Much more prominent, but arguably less dramatic, is the growing relationship between the main character, Yumi, and her idol, Sachiko. The pair, as noted by observers who are close to them, seem to be rather different from one another. Yumi is an ordinary girl who often sees herself as normal in every way, with more than her fair share of fear and anxiety at being in such close proximity to girls whom she saw as the “royalty” of the school. Sachiko, on the other hand, was every inch a princess bred for the sole purpose of fulfilling a role and maintaining appearances. Their growing ties with one another, along with just how much they influence and cherish one another, is the most prominent among the running threads of the show. As the story progresses, Sachiko slowly starts to open up more and learn to let go of her mask of emotional stability when needed. At the same time, Yumi is learning to become more confident with herself, along with learning to get better control of her emotional outbursts.

Ultimately, there are several other relationship threads and emotional connections than the ones presented above. The friendships between girls of the same year-level, their interactions with those that are ahead of them, and the recurring visits of girls who have already graduated offer glimpses into the depth of the closeness the cast shares. As some fans of the show have said, each girl is a window in every other girl’s soul, often appearing as either a reflection of something inside them or as that unidentifiable piece that is missing from their lives. The show certainly lacks the capacity for epic drama, but then again, it is a show about ordinary lives and ordinary girls. Really, how much “epic drama” does the average girl have to look forward to, anyway?

The Law of Attraction exists in your life right now; whether you understand it or not, whether you know it or not, and whether you like it or not.

Until you learn to use the Law of Attraction in a deliberate way, most of the time you are not aware that you are attracting into your life-more of-whatever you are giving your focus, attention, and energy to. This is referred to as non-deliberate attraction. It can be described in a 4-step cycle:

Step 1: I observe what I’m attracting in any area of my life.

Step 2: While observing what I’m attracting, I’m offering a corresponding vibration, whether negative or positive.

Step 3: The Law of Attraction is always checking in to see what my vibration is and matches it obediently, whether wanted or unwanted.

Step 4: As the Law of Attraction responds to my vibration, I receive or manifest into my life, more of what I was observing in the first place.

Then, the cycle begins at Step 1 and repeats itself over and over again. Here’s how the cycle may be working in your life right now.

You may notice that you keep attracting negative people and events into your life. As you notice or observe this, you are emitting or offering a corresponding vibration. The Law of Attraction responds to your vibration by matching it and giving you more of the same. In this example, more of the same means that you experience more negative people and events in your life.

Keep in mind, the Law of Attraction is a powerful and obedient universal law. It doesn’t know whether you want more of something or not; whether it is good for you or not or whether it is wanted by you or not-it simply gives you more of the same.

If you are curious about what it is you are offering vibrationally in any area of your life, you need only look at the results you are getting in that area-it’s always a perfect match. When you observe what you are attracting and you like it, celebrate–and in your celebration, you’ll attract more of the same.

When you observe you are attracting something that you don’t like, you can use the Law of Attraction deliberately to put a stop to it and change it into something that you DO want. The easiest way to do this is to ask yourself, “So, what DO I want?” and then keep your mind focused on this new clarity of desire. Now you are becoming a deliberate offer-er about what you do want and the Law of Attraction will respond accordingly. As you continue to practice this, you’ll soon be able to check into this area of your life and see the NEW results you are getting.

“Organisms do not experience environments, they create them.”
– From A Simpler Way, by Margaret Wheatley

Walking down Lincoln Avenue in Portsmouth, I am struck by the beauty of the day – forsythia, tulips and daffodils, bright sun, warm breeze – and the freedom and privilege I have to walk in a healthy body, through a friendly neighborhood, of my own volition. I think about how much I take for granted, and how easy it is to feel centered and content when life is easy, flowing, and conflict free.

The day before was not so. It was rainy, windy, and cold. I hadn’t slept and woke up short-tempered and irritable. (Will winter never end?!) A project I’d been putting off could not be postponed any longer, and I knew I had to finish it even though I had no inspiration for it. My body ached from hard aikido practice the night before, and I felt tired and lacked energy. I opened a window and spilled a potted plant all over my office floor. And the last piece of my favorite toasting bread had mysteriously disappeared from its storage place. Tomorrow – who knows? As my friend Carol says, life can fall on your head at any moment.

So how do I walk my talk, change my attitude, adjust my goals, and reinvent my life even when I don’t feel like it? I kept thinking: You can do this, this is great, exactly what you look for – ideal opportunities to practice . . . center, breathe, laugh. Sure, it’s easy to be centered when things are going your way. This is the perfect day to practice – when they aren’t.

I’m embarrassed to say that it was still hard. The only good news that I was able to give myself was that I noticed. I could see I was having a “pity party,” which was a step in the right direction. Friend and colleague, Joy Jacobs, calls this ability to step outside our selves and acknowledge our reactions meta-communication. My meta-communicator is the role that says, Hey, Judy, you’re really having a strong reaction to that plant falling over. Whoah! Are you sure you want to throw it through the window? Right, probably not.

The meta-communicator is the insulation between my reaction and my response. It keeps me from getting dragged down an emotionally reactive path that I will probably regret. The ability to meta-communicate is a sign of emotional intelligence, analogous to self-awareness, and essential to self-control. Without the ability to meta-communicate, I get lost in the emotion and identify with it. There is no distance, no separation between me and my mental state; the attitude, emotion, or mood overrides conscious thought and takes me wherever it wants. I can only talk about the emotion again (like this) when it’s played itself out and I regain the ability to see it.

Centering awakens the meta-communicator. Taking a moment of literal and figurative inspiration – breathing and connecting to my power source – gives me the time and the space to decide if I want to get dragged off or not.

Pity parties are fun sometimes. I can enjoy getting together telephonically or in person with special friends. We dress up in our best long-suffering attitudes and moan about this event or that person, how much work there is to do and how little time. We bring our meta-communicators along, and we laugh at ourselves in the midst of our complaining. It’s a lot more fun to whine with awareness.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, “If you don’t like what’s happening in your life, change your mind.” How do you like what’s happening in your life at the moment? I realize it may be a lot more challenging than winter weather in May. Still, gently experiment with changing your relationship to life events, and see what happens.

When I am willing and able to do this, to change my mind, everything changes. It begins by noticing my reactive state.
I’m upset.
Okay – Upset Energy. How can I use it in a way that’s congruent with my values and vision?
I take charge of it, before it takes charge of me.
I begin to travel a path of power and presence, instead of a path of reactivity and regret.

As I place that bit of padding between my reaction and my response, I reclaim my power. I reconnect with what is really important. Why am I here? What do I want to contribute to this workplace, this family unit, this relationship? What are my hopes for this conversation? How will I impact this meeting?

More sunny days and uplifting moments are on the horizon. But whatever the external or internal weather conditions, I am protected by an inner spring of insight that is always awake, aware, and available to be turned on at any moment. And I remember all that I have to be grateful for, including the privilege of having unsettling emotions.

How are you inventing your life today, this moment? Is life a struggle, or does it flow? It’s possible that the answers are really up to you.

I have counseled individuals, couples, families and business partners for the past 35 years and authored eight published books. Every individual I’ve worked with has had some abandonment wound to heal, and most relationship problems stem from abandonment wounds.

It is not possible to grow up in our society without some abandonment wounds. The following are some of the ways it can occur:

* Being torn away from mother at birth and put into a nursery.

* Being left to cry in a crib or playpen.

* Being given up for adoption or being left in foster care.

* Being physically and/or sexually abused.

* Being emotionally abused – ignored, yelled at, shamed.

* Being pushed aside at the birth of a new sibling.

* Having a parent or caregiver who is emotionally unavailable.

* Being unseen or misunderstood by parents or other caregivers.

* Being lied to.

* Being unprotected by a parent or caregiver.

* Being left alone in a hospital during an illness.

* Losing a beloved parent or grandparent at a very young age.

* Divorce.

* Being teased or left out with siblings or peers.

* Being ridiculed by a teacher.

* Being forgotten – not being picked up from school or other places.

* Being left at a young age to care for oneself, a parent, or other siblings.

When we are deeply wounded at a young age, we cannot handle the pain, so we find ways to dissociate from the intense feelings. Then, later in life, especially when we fall in love, these old wounds can get activated. Our beloved gets angry, withdraws, gives attention to someone else, says mean things, doesn’t tell the truth, doesn’t stand up for us, comes home late, wanders away in a crowded public place, misunderstands us, and so on – and suddenly the pain that has been pushed aside all these years comes roaring to the surface. We think that we are reacting to the present situation, but what is really happening is that the old, unhealed abandonment wound has been touched off. We might find ourselves suddenly enraged or falling apart with intense tears. Our reaction seems too big for the situation, yet we cannot seem to stop the inner pain. We might start to shake violently as the old terror finally erupts.

We want our beloved to take the pain away by stopping his or her behavior. If only he or she would not do the thing that activates these feelings, we would be fine. Yet until we actually heal these old, deep wounds, we will not be fine. We will always be vulnerable to having these wounds activated.

Healing the abandonment wounds does not happen overnight, yet it does not have to take years either. Step one is to tune into your feelings with a willingness to take responsibility for your pain. Once you are aware that deep pain has been activated, seek the help of someone who can hold you and nurture you while you go into the abandonment pain. If no one is available, hold a doll, bear or pillow, and bring in love to the hurting part of you. Open to your concept of God or Spirit and allow this source of love and strength to nurture you.

It is often not advisable to seek the help of the person who activated the wound because:

1) he or she may still be stuck in their own wounded place, the place that touched off your wound;

2) you might become dependent upon your beloved taking care of you and taking the pain away instead of actually healing the pain.

Once you are with a safe, nurturing person, or even on the phone with a safe person, hold a doll or bear or even a pillow very tightly and breath into the pain. Open to learning and allow the Inner Child who is in pain to give you information about the original pain that is still stuck in the body. The body holds the memories that you repressed at the time, and now the body is releasing these memories. Many images may come up as you open to learning with your Inner Child. Be sure you have your spiritual guidance with you, holding you, surrounding you with love and comfort as you open to learning about this deep pain. In order to truly understand your present reaction, you need to understand what happened to you when you were little. Keep breathing deeply and allowing your Inner Child to inform you, even if you are crying. Tell the person helping you what your Child is telling you about what happened to you when you were little. It may take awhile, but gradually you will calm down. At that point, tune into what false beliefs you may have embraced as a child that are affecting you now, and what else your Child needs right now to feel loved and safe.

Being there for your wounded child this way will gradually heal the abandonment wounds. Ignoring your feelings, trying to make them go away, or trying to get someone else to take them away will only serve to re-wound you. It is only when you no longer abandon yourself that the old wounds begin to heal. Eventually, another’s behavior that previously triggered your intense reaction will no longer do so. You may feel sad or lonely when a loved one gets angry or withdraws in some way, but as long as you continue to show up for yourself, the intense pain will not be there.

If the pain seems stuck in the body no matter what you do, then you need to seek out a practitioner who knows how to release old pain out of the body through acupressure or other bodywork.

Once these old wounds are healing, you will feel a new sense of personal power. Others’ behavior can no longer trigger you into these intensely painful feelings. However, a word of caution: we may think it is healed, only to discover another level when we move into a more intimate relationship, or more intimacy with a present partner. The closer the relationship, the deeper the wounds get activated. That is why the primary relationship is the most powerful arena for healing there is, and Inner Bonding – the process outlined here – is a most powerful tool! (See resource box for a FREE Inner Bonding course).

I am the type of person who used to have a very negative attitude to most aspects of life. I am not alone in thinking this way as most of the people I meet seem to be constantly moaning about different things and basically feeling sorry for themselves. This article looks at the reasons and benefits of having a more positive outlook on life.

About ten years ago I decided that I needed to have a change of approach. I wanted to be a happy and care-free person and was fed up of always being stressed and worrying about the future. To achieve this I started to read many self-help, confidence type books and websites.

There was a regular message which came from this literature which was to think more positive and to believe in your ability to succeed in whatever you attempt to do.

This is easy to write or say, but in reality it is difficult to implement in practice. Of course I tried but in truth I did not really believe in the whole practice. I would go into a task thinking, I can do this, but it would still end up in failure.

I could not understand what was going wrong so I therefore went back to the books to try to learn more. There was a new and even more important message which I had missed the first time around. What I had to do was to take a positive out of whatever happens to me, even if this is learning from my failings.

As an example of taking a positive from whatever happens in life, is something which happened in my family recently. My nan has recently passed away, she was eighty-eight. I used to visit her at least once a week at the flat where she lived. She was a very honest person and always talked very openly to me. Around two months before she died she told me that she was very tired and that she no longer wanted to be on this planet.

I was quite shocked by her admission and asked her what was wrong. She stated that she had nothing to look forward to and that she did not want to reach a point where she could no longer bath herself etc. She continued that she hoped that I would not grieve for to long when she did die and that she wanted me to be happy for her.

This was quite upsetting for me to hear but at least she was being honest of course. Two months later my dad phoned me and told me that my nan had passed away in the night.

I was obviously upset and the thought of never being able to see her again hit me hard. I then thought about what she had said and looked up to the sky and gave my nan a smile and a message, I love you.

I thought positive about the whole event and was actually happy for her. I hope that one day we will meet again.
